Supporting bilateral innovation and resilience in the UK and Kuwait
We’re delighted to be working with British Embassy Kuwait to support trade and innovation between the two countries.
Over the next few months, the Metta team and I will be working with stakeholders from the UK and Kuwait to deliver the UK-Kuwait Innovation Bridge. The project is with British Embassy Kuwait, through the Gulf Strategy Fund.
The Innovation Bridge will research Kuwait’s priority resilience needs — including water, food, energy and critical infrastructure — to understand where UK expertise and capability can best support those priorities.
Building on our research, the project’s focus will then be to create practical opportunities for bilateral trade, investment, technology transfer, research and institutional partnership by bringing together relevant organisations from both countries.
Building on partnerships
The UK and Kuwait have a longstanding relationship, alongside complementary strengths and ambitions across many of these sectors. The Innovation Bridge will build on that relationship by turning shared priorities into practical partnerships that strengthen Kuwait’s long-term economic and infrastructure resilience while creating new opportunities for UK-Kuwait co-operation.
At this stage, we are seeking to connect with stakeholders with expertise, experience, and capacity to identify priority resilience needs and pathways for cooperation. We’re especially looking to connect with:
Policymakers and government representatives overseeing this work,
NGOs and foundations promoting resilience and sustainability in Kuwait or the UK,
Academics and researchers with regional or thematic expertise,
Startups, SMEs, and other local entities solving local resilience challenges,
Investors (including, but not limited to, angel investors, venture capital funds, development banks and so on),
Incubators, accelerators and ecosystem enablers, and
Corporates and industry actors advancing resilience.
